I’m Julia, the photographer, stylist, and creator behind Paddock 2 Pixel. I can help you tell your food or drink story through my lens. If you are looking for beautiful imagery or a foodie collaborator for your brand or business, you are at the right place.
I live in Benalla, a small country town in beautiful northern Victoria, with my husband and cat, but travel all over the state for work. I have set up a small photography studio in our home where I take many of my client shots.
My search for daily fulfillment has taken me down many roads. I’ve earned my living as a tailor, a sound editor, an event manager and project coordinator. While some of these jobs have been interesting and enjoyable for a while, ultimately I feel the happiest when I can be creative and do things with my hands.
Cooking has always played a big role in my life, so in 2018, I left my full-time job as an event manager at Dairy Australia and set out on a journey to become a creative in the food industry. Over the last 3 years I studied professional food styling at RMIT, enrolled in various courses about food photography, and have spent endless hours in my studio creating beautiful food and drink imagery, always challenging myself, perfecting my new craft.
I knew that in order to make it in the food industry, I had to also be a great cook. I have over 25 years of experience creating delicious feasts and goodies in the home kitchen, but I decided to learn the best techniques and tricks at culinary school in 2019, when I completed a Cert III in Commercial Cookery at William Angliss Institute.
This is the story of how Paddock 2 Pixel was born. It’s my world of anything food – from growing it, preparing it, inventing it, styling it, photographing it, and of course consuming it!
I’d love to work with you, be it food photography or styling, recipe development or testing, or content creation. Let’s chat!
